Dr Catherine Padgett

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I hold advanced accreditation as Schema Therapist with the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) and am accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

My qualifications are:

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Oxford University

Advanced Diploma in Psychology, Oxford Brookes

BA (hons) Aberystwyth University

I have worked in the NHS for over 20 years, specialising in working with people who have experienced trauma in their lives. I have held senior leadership roles within the NHS in London and Sussex working within secondary care community mental health teams and psychology departments.  Alongside this I provide online sessions of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for a small private clinic in London.

The main treatment approaches I use are CBT and schema therapy. Within the safety of the therapeutic relationship, treatment will typically involve making sense of current difficulties and strategies learnt to cope with these by gaining a developmental history. Together we work to heal unmet developmental needs, and update patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour to enable individuals to live a more fulfilled life in line with their values and goals. My areas of expertise include childhood or later life trauma, anxiety and mood difficulties and/or low self-esteem. Across all my work, I bring a warmth and compassion as these values are integral to my approach.

I am based in Sussex and currently able to offer appointments on-line.
