Janis Briedis, Counselling Psychologist, MA, CPsychol
Janis is a Counselling Psychologist chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and has worked in the NHS and private practice for over a decade.
He is an ISST accredited advanced level schema therapist, supervisor and trainer. Janis is also a cognitive behavioural (CBT) therapist and integrates EMDR, mindfulness, compassion-focussed therapy (CFT) and sensorimotor therapy in his practice, and regularly teaches schema therapy, CBT and mindfulness in a variety of NHS and academic settings such as University of East London and University of Hertfordshire.
Janis has worked in primary care, drug and alcohol and LGBT services, community mental health teams and specialist psychology services, and has a wide range of clinical experience working particularly with complex trauma, personality disorders and relationship difficulties. He is also interested in applying schema therapy across cultures and practices in two languages other than English – Latvian and Russian. Janis is also an accredited group schema therapist and has run schema therapy groups in the NHS.
